Algonquin Park (just over 3 hours North of Toronto) is a true representation of Canadian lands: dense maple forests line the trails, over 2,400 lakes and 1,200 kilometers of streams and rivers. This picturesque park in Canada is a place made to explore.

On this trip, get away from the noise of day to day life (we’re silencing all notifications) and embrace the art of being still in nature.  Escape the concrete jungle to frolick in the forest.

This trip is for beginners who want to learn how to properly use essential gear and paddling techniques, ensuring you have the confidence to travel through the park's pristine lakes and rivers in the hands of an experienced guide.

Learn to size your paddle, how to pack your bag, how to travel by canoe (the basics of paddling, portaging, and water safety), open water navigation - reading maps, landscapes, and weather, campsite basics - how to set up the site, pitch tents, tarps, sleep systems and everything in between, campfire cooking - how to handle an open flame, cooking and cleaning in the backcountry, and how to adapt and improvise when various situations arise in the wild.

Group departures are for women and womxn-identifying folks.

Group Weekend available: July 26-28. BOOKINGS CLOSE JUNE 23 AT MIDNIGHT.

Alternative weekends available for your private group of up to 8 people.

the plan

Day 1 | Meet the guide and group at the access point lake and for Canoeing 101 - a lesson in packing our bags and getting out on the water. Then we’re off! Today is a shorter day where you can expect 1-2 portages under 500m and approximately 3-4 hours of paddling (with stops as needed - you can do it!) We'll stop for lunch, sweet views and a swim. After arrival at the site and camp set up, relax, swim, hang out by the fire and watch a beautiful Ontario lake sunset. In the evening, we’ll have dinner, roast marshmallows and stargaze on a night time paddle (weather dependent)

Day 2 | Today we're packing up camp and heading to our second just as stunning, secluded lakefront spot. Spend the day in the sun, paddling across the pristine Ontario lakes and laughing with your new friends. We'll stop along the way for lunch and swims and relaxing on the shore. Once we get to camp, we'll pitch our tents, make a fire and have a yummy dinner around the campfire. Keep your eye out for moose once the sun starts going down.

Day 3 | Wake up and pack up the site! We’ll make our way back at a gentle pace with plenty of time to soak in our surroundings as we meander back to the access point lake.

Origin Travels never dissapoints! I had the most incredible travel experience on a recent three-day camping trip in Algonquin. From the moment I reached out to Sandra, I felt like she understood what I wanted to get out of this trip. She was an absolute gem throughout the journey and she went above and beyond to ensure that we were always well-informed and up to date with every piece of information we could possibly need.

She managed to find us one of the best guides in the area for our trip, and this helped a lot especially considering that I hadn't done camping for a few years and it was a bit out of my comfort zone. Thank you so much Sandra for this amazing experience!!

Just got back from "The Wilderness Trip" in Northern Ontario and I feel refreshed, relaxed, well fed, and slightly sun kissed. OT organized an awesome trip with a balance of fun, play, and just the right amount of organized activities to give us time to do whatever we wanted. The food was great , but my favourite was the SUP Yoga! If this is just a weekend adventure in Ontario, then I *know* an international tour is well worth the investment. Can't wait to book again!

I went on a Wilderness weekend with Origin Travels to Six Mile Lake this past August and had the most wonderfully refreshing trip away. Travelling with OT felt more like travelling with a new group of friends than it did a tour group of strangers. Everything was so thought through, whether it was hammocks to lounge in by the water’s edge or marshmallows to toast over the fire. I’ll definitely be booking another trip in the future! 🌲🌊 Thanks for everything!
